100% Cotton Shirts
The fiber percentage may match while the weight, weave, feel and best use differ considerably.
“Cotton” does not describe the whole shirt.
A cotton percentage identifies fiber content, but it does not tell you whether a shirt is light, structured, soft or rugged. Canvas, chambray, poplin and jersey can all be cotton while behaving very differently. Buttons, thread, interfacing and trim may also use other materials, so a 100% cotton fabric claim should not automatically be read as a whole-garment claim.

What to compare
Weave or knit
Canvas is usually heavier, poplin is crisp, chambray is lighter, and jersey is a flexible knit. Fiber alone does not predict feel.
Fabric weight
A heavier cotton can work as an overshirt, while a lighter cotton may be better for warm weather or layering.
Components
Check buttons, interfacing, labels and thread if avoiding non-cotton components matters to you.
Care and shrinkage
Follow the listed washing and drying directions. Cotton construction and finishing can change how much a shirt shrinks or wrinkles.
The Material First rule
Compare the percentage and the construction together. Two 100% cotton shirts can meet different needs without either one being the universally better choice.
